Ninja Scroll review by Xenogears

Ninja Scroll, a movie so thrilling, so amazing, and so deep, it can shock you. Well...kind of. It is thrilling, and the action is tremendous, but the plot..what plot? The character development? I think not. This movie is soully for action, which is excellent. Multiple swordfights, (including the highly acclaimed, but in my opinion, overrated, bamboo scene) and great fight choreography make this movie a must see. So you say you loved Serial Experiments Lain and Patlabor, but you hated Fatal Fury and Street-Fighter? Well then don't see it, because this anime really sucks in the plot department.

This anime is also not very appropriate for all ages. Now I'm against censorship in all aspects, and I hate most butchering jobs that TV has done, but this...this has hentai (pornography). In one scene, there is quite the rape scene, and you can hear the orgasm from the next room.
So if you don't want parents banning you from watching (if you're young or something, or your parents don't trust you) keep the volue low, and get the fast foward ready. Of course there is tons of blood, but that is great! ^^;

One great side to this anime, is the villains. They are just an interesting and unique bunch of demons. Sadly, they are commanded by a cliche and boring strong-dude, whose only special power is invincibility and reincarnation... but it is still a great ending fight scene. But I won't give out any spoilers (even if I did, it wouldn't spoil a plotless anime such as this). Anywhoo, my point is: if you want action definitely see this movie! If you want a strong plot, and you're a goodygoody pacifist, who loves to think, stay away! And see something like Lain or Patlabor (two excellent animes as well).

Movie length: approx 90 minutes
