---Cowboy Bebop, an anime with its own genre, an anime almost impossible to dislike, and an anime that is truly wonderful. With beautiful animation, stunning dialogue, great voice actors (for both dubbies and subbies alike watchers), superb action sequences, unforgettable characters, and amazing music, this anime is almost a personal favorite. Although a problem-of-the-day anime, which many viewers look down upon, it extends much deeper than others, and a few episodes do in fact have a recurring plot line. Comedy, action, drama, and science fiction are magnificantly combined and integrated to make a very different anime.
---Cowboy Bebop takes place in the not too distant future, where the Earth is no longer the homeland of all, and Mars is long past the distant frontier of today. Satellites, space stations, and moons are now home to most of the population. Crime is obviously still occurant in this futuristic time period, largely increasing the contemporarily rare job of bounty hunters. Enter the Bebop, an old ship that is now home to Jet Black (a former government agent, now a bounty hunter) and Spike Spiegal (a former member of a notorious crime sydicate). They go around searching for bounty heads, and along the way meet up with some new crew members: Faye, a short-tempered vixen, who has no problem with using sex appeal to get what she needs. Ed, an insane girl who is an ingenious computer hacker. She'll make you laugh, or cry, not matter what the situation. And finally Ein, a super-intelligent "Data-Dog" that is highly valued, because of its production data.
---The soundtrack was done by the brilliant, Yoko Kanno, who is responsible for other soundtracks such as The Vision of Escaflowne. It uses a highly varied ensemble of music, ranging from Jazz, to Country, to Heavy Metal. Any genre of music that you can think of, is incorperated into Cowboy Bebop's amazing soundtrack.
---In the animation department, it definitely stands out. Although not as good as it's later movie, Knockin' On Heaven's Door (whose animation was simply stunning), Cowboy Bebop has a tremendous combination of CG animation, and Cel animation. The movement is smooth and the fight scenes flow very well.
---Speaking of the fight scenes...they are highly active and motivating. Using Bruce Lee's famous style, Jeet Kune Do, Spike Spiegel has many an entertaining brawl with criminals and space villains. He also uses a gun, and the gun fights are great. Very exciting spacecraft fights, are high-speed and keep the moving across the screen, while the hand to hand combat leaves nothing to be desired.
---They traverse the galaxy, compensating their past, dealing with their present, and always ready for the future. Surprisingly full of philosophy, and psychology, this anime has a different side of the coin. Even from the first episode, you'll want to see more of this terrific masterpiece, and I highly recommend you do.
